This time our guest is Trajche Panov from the European University Institute in Florence. Trajche was an MA student at CEU before he went to do his PhD in Florence. The topic of his PhD research is very similar to what we discussed in the last seminar with Paul DeBell - abstention from voting and the impact of ideology on voter demobilization. The paper that Trajche will be presenting at our seminar (co-authored with Dane Taleski, a PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science) will focus on a much more specific topic - the structure and nature of political divisions in the Republic of Macedonia. The paper looks into how social structure as well as social attitudes and perceptions of the communist past influence political divisions in the country.
