Bruno Castanho e Silva Web scraping is the use of a little easy programming (R, in this case) to make data collection from the internet easier and faster. Often, data that interest us are scattered online in many pages and formats, and downloading or copy-pasting each part individually can take forever. Scraping comes in handy to automate what can be automated, and make this excruciatingly boring part of research as quick as possible. So, as you can see, it's better to have an idea of what it is before you've wasted a lot of time unnecessarily. If you have an idea of something to scrape from the internet, bring it along and we could work on it to see how the scraping could be implemented.
