Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations, together with PolBeRG and PERG, will organize two-day workshop on LaTeX. As you all know, today LaTeX is one of the most widely used text editing tools in scientific community. Besides producing documents that look better, it can also improve your chances for publishing your work.

The workshop will take place in FT 809, on Friday 1st of April (15.30-17.30) and Saturday 2nd  of April (11.00-14.00). Instructor for this workshop will be Constantin Manuel Bosancianu, a senior PhD student who, among other things, teaches LaTeX course in ECPR’s Method School.

Prior knowledge of LaTeX is not required. However, participants are expected to bring their own laptops during the tutorial, and to have a LaTeX version already installed on their computer. The following versions, available through a quick Google search, are the most widespread ones:

  • MiKTeX: only for Windows, but lightweight;
  • TeXLive: available for Mac/Windows/Linux, but quite large. If you’ll do installation over Internet, this will download over 2500 packages, so be prepared for a wait time of about 1hr;
  • MacTeX: for Apple users, also quite large. You can get a slimmed-down version, called BasicTeX, if you don’t want to wait to wait very long for the download.

Although it takes the longest, the instructor’s preference is for TeXLive. In addition, participants should have TeXStudio installed, as a convenient text editor for LaTeX. This is a free software, available for Mac/Windows/Linus.

Hope to see you all at the workshop!
